Election notes: Majors and Minors  #

I ragged on John Howard yesterday, but it should be noted that I don't think Kevin Rudd is Mr. Awesome.

He is guilty of many of the tricks in politics that irritate me about our current Prime Minister.

But despite avoiding questions on the issues I care about, the answers given from Kevin Rudd are at least vaguely "left" leaning, while John Howard is solidly "right".

I'm not "hard" left, but I'm left leaning. So the ALP will get my preference. Their vagaries at least leave the door open to discussion, while the Liberals have nailed the door shut and pissed on it.

But I won't give my first preference to either major. Neither give solid answers to my queries. They're scared of polarising their voters by giving solid answers to "minor" political issues.

So I must vote for a minor party.

My first preference honour goes to The Democrats. On the issues I care about, they have solid unambiguous answers that I agree with.

I shouldn't expect anything more.
